Collin Pelfrey: Since it is obvious that obama will not be allowed to ***openly*** establish his death panels, he apparently plans to starve the senior citizens with illegal cuts to their only source of income (over 38% of seniors have Social Security as 90 percent or more of their total income. About 12% have Social Security as their only income).obama and his sycophants hate senior citizens because the seniors are wasting "federal money" by claiming the benefits into which they have paid and paid and paid throughout their lives. It is long past time to get rid of the entire pack of politicians and start over. The U.S.A. is a republic. We vote for those who are supposed to *represent* us, but that happens only when it will secure a vote. The problem is not really the politicians, although they have gone to great lengths to enable and further their system of flappers and kickbacks, it is the system. We would be much better off if we could remove the politicians from their of! fices and eliminate the office, but humans are not ready to govern themselves so we are stuck with our elected royalty. We *do* need to change the names though. The ultra-rich politicians have no care for how their constituents live. The politicos think that $30,000/year is "rich" yet some of them are worth that much each DAY.Like the French royalty of the 18th century, the rich politicians desire only their own comfort."What? The people have no bread to eat? then let them eat cake!"The politicians have come to believe that they are our masters rather than our servants. They are out of control. It's time to vote ALL of them out of office. We need to have a 'REMOVE INCUMBENT' option on the ballot....Show more
Stanton Degregorio: It shows that is willing to work with intransigent Republicans. However, the word "compromise" is not in their vocabulary.
Alane Antes: LOL! -Anything- Obama does is just the most wrong thing he could do, huh?Know what I think? I think Obam! a offered 'indexed CPI' just to show how unrealistic the Repub! licans were being. The Repubs rejected his proposal before even READING it.This is like when Obama said he could cut $700 billion out of Medicare in ten years, a drop in the bucket really, by eliminating overpayments. The Tea Party suddenly went from wanting to abolish Medicare altogether to wanting to SAVE medicare from Obama's draconian cuts. As soon as that died down, they went back to wanting to abolish Medicare....Show more
Leticia Laiben: Evidently-YES! BO cares more about offering amnesty to illegal immigrants, payola via bailouts to large scale industries and gay agendas than the elderly, military personnel and the tax-paying public in general. Since acquiring office, he obviously still doesn't understand the importance of cutting billions in wasted tax dollars and halting continued wildfire spending on welfare programs (including illegal immigrant health care & education). His dedication to gays, choosing vacation spots and growing an already out of contro! l welfare state further occupies his time....Show more
Gertrude Darke: He signed the bill to cut all spending passed in Congress. If they dont cut SS they have to cut miiltary. It is not up to the President. He has to make the best deal he can. Pres. does not have authority to specify exactly what items are cut, Congress does that.
Galen Gowers: what it really shows is this. social security...and I can talk as I draw my monthly check...is nothing less than a Ponzi scheme made legal by the government mandating it some 80 years ago, and it won't work because of a number of different factors. this is true of all government mandated programs such as this because as they go on, more and more people live long enough to keep the program needing bigger and more extended 'contributions' from those taxed to support it, meaning that they simply run out of money. and it gives us all a perfect look at just what this new 'obamacare' national health care thing is going to d! o to this country...the difference? it will only take 10 years...or le! ss...for the country's health care system to be completely in ruin, leaving us all 'in the toilet'. as to Obama caring, well, here's the deal. he is an elitist thug, and interested in nothing but his own power and 'say so'. it is as simple as that when it comes to Obama caring....Show more
Carolin Southers: No, Obama's proposed cut to SS does not show a disinterest in 'seniors.' Politics has very little to do with emotions and sentiments. I think Obama means the best for most Americans, and most international citizens for that matter, but negotiations will whittle-down the ideological attributes of a legislative proposal. You pass a bill with votes, not sincerity. And as a libertarian, I think that the coming waterfall of tough decisions that the government and the American people will make is unjust, but mostly because the source of the problems that warrant these tough decisions are based on flawed government involvement in the economic sphere especially, and bec! ause many of the people who will pay for it were not even alive when these foolish encroachments of government were perpetrated on the American people by the people themselves and the politicians. Government creates harm where it has no intention to, and like any entity, government will try to protect its own existence and power from any and all who wish to return that power back to the people/consumers and producers. The result of any successful budgetary negotiation will have to include concessions from both sides (tax increases, and spending cuts on all federally funded programs, departments, and agencies), which means that everyone will interpret the passing of the bill as a success based on their ideology. However, pragmatically, the bill may be a success, cutting the size of the budget, and the deficit by an even larger margin. Also, Obama cannot pass any budgetary law on his own. He may veto, but Congressional committees are actually in charge of drafting bills. The p! ension aspect of Social Security should be privatised. It is blustering! and unproductive to have a public entity tax everyone and redistribute to the old when a private entity could more easily help each person invest their savings for their retirement....Show more
