Study Abroad eligibility?

Mitzie Clough: Hi Dare2Dream,The programs that I am familiar with require that you are enrolled in an university and they operate one of two ways. One way is the university has an agreement with foreign universities whereby you can study and your credit transfer back to the school. Second way is through a program that takes university students and through their network you can select schools to study. The big advantage of these programs is many of the schools will provide English instruction but you may not get enough financial aid to cover all over your expenses. With that said there is a third route, direct application to the foreign school. Advantage here is your choices are limited and the cost might be less. However it means you have to do all of the work yourself, you must meet the entrance requirements, and you must meet the visa requirements. Also it means if you attend school in a country where the language is not English then you most likely need to be fluent in! their language in order to qualify for a visa and to attend classes. Final drawback to this route is most likely you will not qualify for financial aid in the country, US financial aid will probably cover a fraction of your needed expenses, and you may have to look for other sources to fund you. Final point, you mention you want to study in either Eastern Europe or India. Most of the study abroad programs, either through a university or through a program, that I am familiar with exclude those areas. It is not say that it is impossible to study there but it means you will have to do some searching to find a program that includes at least one of those areas. In conclusion, my advice to you is if you are wanting to study abroad then the best route may be enrolling in a four year university to complete your bachelor degree and do a study abroad program as a part of your degree. As you make your decision you will need to begin to understand the costs involved that are not inclu! ded with the program and depending on the country the non-incl! uded costs can easily add another $10,000 - $20,000 per year. Also you will need to ensure you understand the requirements for the program including language requirements, visa requirements, immunisations, and health insurance requirements. Without fully understanding what is involved studying abroad you may find the experience frustrating and expensive....Show more

Renato Abatiell: I recognise you generally do not wish to attend this lengthy, however you do not must research overseas now. You're just a junior in top institution! I did not research overseas in top institution, however now I'm a freshman in institution and I'm undoubtedly going to research overseas my junior yr of institution. And in institution, I'm certain you would get scholarships and stuff for it, simply preserve your grades up.
