Blair Abdi: I use FLVS ( Florida Virtual School) very good online school and they say anyone in the US can use it, check it out, FLVS.net
Phil Kuarez: Find out if you qualify for homebound studies through your district. That is for students who are medically unable to continue in regular school. You would need a doctor to sign off on it and by law, your school would have to provide the work and a weekly tutor. I had to do that. It's not the best, but will get you through the rest of this school year. It's likely too late to switch to online. K12 has a few free public programs in WA, but I think they are only accepting enrollment for next school year at this time. Insight also has a free public school program in WA, but again they are enrolling for next year now. Connections Academy does not have a free public program in WA. FLVS is only free to Florida residents since it's run by Florida public schools....Show more
Jonelle Eligio: Not sure if any of these are ! enrolling for the remainder of this year, most seem to be concentrating on enrolling students for the next school year (2013-2014).IQ Academy: http://iqacademywa.comWAVA (K12): http://www.k12.com/wavaInsight: http://wa.insightschools.netWashington IA: http://iacademy.orgColumbia Virtual Academy (despite the name it is a WA state school): http://www.cva.org/new-website TBH I very much doubt you'll find a place in any of the online public schools before Aug/Sept 2013. To do the rest of this year online you may have to go with one of the private (fee paying) online schools. Cheapest I could find that's also accredited in WA was the University of Missouri High School: http://muhigh.missouri.edu . Other one that is known for its value for money is the American School of Correspondence: https://www.americanschoolofcorr.com...Show more
Vince Delarge: yes, K12, Connections and Insight all operate in WA. They are all free public schools. I'm not sure enrollment would be immed! iate, you would have to ask them. But if that's what you want! there are a lot of them and you should be able to find one that will enroll you. However, if you have a serious medical reason for not attending school, you should apply for your district to provide you with home studies. That is a teacher comes to your home once a week or so and you do lessons that keep you up with what your class is doing in school. It is also free provided by taxpayers to students in your situation. . And it has the added benefit of you being right where your class is when you return. You should also know that online public schools are NOT homeschooling. Homeschooling is a separate set of laws that regulate a parent providing their child's education themselves and is in no way connected to any public school, either online or in your neighborhood. Unfortunately online schools as well as public school HomeLink programs call themselves homeschooling so people will think they offer the quality homeschooling does, but what they offer is regular old p! ublic school, just in your home. good luck, hope you find what you need and feel better soon....Show more
Sammy Hatzenbihler: Free online schools are public schools you attend at home. This isn't homeschooling. Schools like K12 and Connections Academy are funded by taxpayers. Most of the time these schools only accept new students during open enrollment, which should be some time this summer. You could switch over to homeschooling, where your parents are your teachers. Or your parents could outsource all your classes.
