What addiction is harder to kick?? Gambling, or Heroin??

Betsey Copp: Both are hard but I say gambling

Garrett Detone: Keep it

Travis Colomb: Have someone else hang onto it and preferably lock it in a safe that you can't get into. If your parents have a safe, turn your knives over to them. Self-mutilation really hurts, and you don't want to go down that road. If you're really scared that you'll hurt yourself, call 911 and explain the situation. In the ER, someone will talk with you about your options and perhaps recommend inpatient treatment where you can't get to anything sharp and you can get away from life for a little while. It helps.

Jeff Frizzell: From personal experience, I would say yes. I used to have panic attacks more frequently when I had caffeine, especially when it was paired with not getting enough sleep. It's so much easier to slide out of control into the anxiety when you have a stimulant drug in your system.

George Dingeldein: Like is it especially bad if somone with anxiety has ca! ffiene like once day compared to somone that does not have anxiety. I take meds for anxiety. Is caffiene bad especially for someone with anxiety, or is it the same?

Arlen Hamper: You have four options:1. Hand it into the police to they can dispose of it safely - you can do so anonymously if you wish2. Hand it to somebody you know and trust who can keep it in a safe place for you and give it back to you when you feel safer. You could offer the reason that you are concerned it may fall into the wrong hands as the amount of knife (and gun) crime concerns you - or of course you could tell them the truth3. Hand it to your therapist. I don't think they will be allowed to keep it or give it back to you, but it's still an option. It is very empowering to give a therapist medication or blades which you could use to harm yourself because it means you're taking control of those emotions and handing over that potential weapon so that they can take it away from you. If you do hand! it to your therapist, make sure it is in a safe, sealed conta! iner so that they cannot hurt themselves when they take it from you and transport it to a safer place.4. Keep it, but store it somewhere which is not easily accessible to you. Make it difficult to access like in the attic. That means you can't just go and grab at as soon as you get the urge to cut.Whatever you do, stay safe.

Nikita Schroepfer: From mental health point of view, immediately you should consult a professionally qualified doctor.

Marcel Then: skip it

Ty Kirton: I haven't tried the patch. I take Aderall XR and it works just right for me. I had the same problem with Concerta, AND Straterra. Ritelin based products just aren't for me. I definetly don't recommend Ritelin.

Josefine Weekey: Strongly suggest you ask the doc to increase your dosage of citalopram. It didn't work very well for me until I was @ 60mg (the max dosage).Keep the knife or don't. Either way, you'll find a way to cut if your mind is set on it. Good luck!

Burt Stoec! klin: I have anxiety. I dont use stimulants anymore. Life is now dull and empty. The birds sing but i dont know why.

Leif Andreason: both are very worst, get immediate counselling for him

Rick Duchane: Gambling has nothing on heroine addiction. Gambling is a compulsion or an addiction like shopping where you get an addrenaline rush. A junkie is in severe pain and gets "sick" like no other sickness can be described to someone who hasn't been there. Methadone is the governments way of keeeping junkies addicts. Heroine users need to learn about Suboxone. It can really get a junkie sober if they can then fight their will. Gambling, by no means is not a horrible addiction, but can never be compared to heroine addiction-in my opinion....Show more

Codi Manchel: I was on concerta 27 mg for 1 week and couldn't even think straight my head hurt so bad.Morning untill night. Now the Dr. wants me to go in tommorow and start the patch has any one tryed this and actually ha! d results?please help!!!!!

Krystal Cordovano: i already do get pr! ofessional help, i talk with a therapist every other week and i started taking 20 mg celexa almost 3 weeks ago and already have a follow up appointment with the psychiatrist.

Lorelei Lilburn: ive really been struggling with the urge to cut lately and so ive been giving knives to my little brothers friend just to end up wanting to cut and getting another knife. on one hand if i keep it, it makes me feel secure when im having an episode of depersonalization/derealization - also if i end up wanting to cut i dont have to use a kitchen knife (cutting with a dull knife sucks), on the other hand its a temptation i have to face if i keep it around.

Faustino Mellerson: gambling & heroin are both hard to kick. the hardest one is smoking!!!!!!!!! to answer your question is heroin.

Kellie Waycott: 1- If you run out of money and possessions, you simply can't gamble anymore.2- If you run out of money and possessions, the Government will prescribe you methadone.Gambling! is an easier habit to kick based on this principal.

Dexter Dingus: Lose IT. Why would someone want to hurt their own self.

Wilbert Shellgren: I think it depends on how far they have gone. I can for sure see that gambling is very addictive. We have video poker machines legal in our state & it is wrecking the lives of many. From divorce to suicide. The heroin is a physical addiction while the gambling is mental. So Id say heroin would be the hardest to kick. But they are both very addicting.

Alberto Kozub: Keep it out of reach but somewhat near as to give yourself that feeling of security but not always be tempted to use it.I don't condone SI even though I've been addicted to it for some time (yes I may sound hypocritical but it's the truth). If you need support or a friend to talk to, feel free to email me at okcupidgirl@yahoo.com...Show more

Wilfred Santacruce: I'm assuming that you are talking about Daytrona (Ritalin in a patch form). My son was o! n it after switching from Concerta (108 mg). His Concerta level was ve! ry high and he was starting to be "zombie like". Lower levels were not effective though according to my son (couldn't effectively focus). When he switched to the Daytrona, he started on the 10mg patch and went to the 15mg patch. His grades did suffer while transitioning to the patch. Now I'm not saying the medicine is directly related but my son did experience suicidal thoughts due to poor grades and the possibility that he would not have adequate grades to participate in sports in high school. I don't believe this was a result of the meds, but rather his coping skills were weak at the time. The patch does have a great advantage over the Concerta in that the effects can be stopped by removing the patch. Concerta last about 12 hours in the body but you can remove the Daytrona patch and the affects will end about 1 hour after removal. You should also notice a more normal appetite on Daytrona versus Concerta.Oh, forgot to add that my son is now on Stratera along with Pro! zac to handle depression (although the doctors are now thinking that maybe it isn't a depression issue but more of an anxiety issue so that may change)....Show more

Charis Deguzman: Y/A

Elfreda Grossen: Caffiene can cause anxiety... so if you already have anxiety, it will intensify it.

Adan Alipio: I've a good friend who was an alcoholic - stopped drinking. Then he turned to crack and herion - kicked the habitThen he started gambling - still struggling with it.He told me that through all his addictions he still was able to keep his family, his home, his business and finances. Gambling took all that away from him and of all his addiction gambling was that one that brought him to the point where he was considering suicide. He believes gambling is the worst of the worst and I've no reason to doubt him....Show more

Raelene Cunnick: gambling.. heroin isn't just there.. you have to seek it outgambling is just a computer away.. plus with sports pools in the! office a $5 office bet could turn into betting on all the games.. it'! s really hard to avoid.. and easy to find..

Craig Virani: Its bad unless its sprite or 7up

Cristopher Gavalis: I don't think it has an affect. I have bad anxiety but my mom won't take me to get medicine cause she thinks it's all in my head even when I started crying at school and throwing up but whatever. What I usually do is just drink a cold water and when i feel like I'm over heating, I drink water and it cools me down. It works for me. Goodluck!

Dexter Dicostanzo: any form of addiction is hard. as in the word. ADDICTION. weather it drugs or not. i really feel for those who have an addiction.

Mitsuko Manne: some people love to to enslave themselves,if they have a freedom ,they misuse it and become slaves to worthless things ,i haven't taken any drugs or addiction before though most of my friends had,do you know why?because i refuse to make my self a slave to anything so i resist it.lady louisa ,even if your friend are staisfied with that, gambling(! his master) will not stay with him forever ,gambling will leave him when money leave.and i think gambling = herion= bad friends = false thoughts = SELF DESTRUCTION...Show more

Foster Koopmann: I have seen how sick the withdrawal from heroin makes a person. So I would say based on that fact alone Heroin would be the harder addiction to quit.

Ewa Homrich: Heroin is an addiction which, once the physical habituation is broken, which is relatively(!) easy, can be controlled by staying away from places where you are likely to run into it. Gambling is a mental problem of which the gambling is only an outward symptom. It is largely linked to a dopamine problem in the brain. Therapy can help, but it is a lifelong problem, like alcoholism. 12 step is pretty effective in this. You might suggest that your friend check out Gamblers' Anonymous....Show more

Lon Pennington: Hard to say. Gambling is definitely easier to get into and keep with. Also, there isn't as mu! ch of a sigma attached to gambling.
